About Me

I am a Cornish based impressionist painter inspired by the coastline, beaches, and countryside.

In my work I try to communicate the varying tones that are unique to Cornwall and its contrasting seasons; capturing the essence of the weather through textural impasto marks and calligraphic scribbles encapsulates the energetic nature of our beautiful region. From brooding sky’s, turbulent tides and spraying seas to serene water pools and lush vegetation, there is much to be inspired by.

Many of my paintings stem from a memory or a photograph of a place I have visited. The feelings these places conjure up are then realised in my studio where I can recreate the full extent of my experience within that moment. I work predominantly in oils on board, using a palette knife to translate the textural qualities that I encounter on my travels.

Some of my pieces verge on the side of abstraction whilst others can take on a more intricate and detailed nature. Occasionally I like to change it up and indulge in a still life of floral arrangements.

I intend to continue roaming this wonderful corner of the world, on a mission to discover and interpret all the precious hidden gems of the coastline and its surrounding areas in my candid and expressive ways.

If you are interested in having a piece of Cornwall in your home, or want to discuss a commission, please feel free to contact me.
